Our vision for the digital Battery Passport
In 2023, during his PhD, Joost Ohrenberg founded his engineering firm and initially worked on various projects in science and research. While leading the setup of a new battery pilot line, he came across the topic of the digital product passport - and specifically the Battery Passport.
It quickly became clear to him that modern production requires not only machines and equipment but also digitalization. During the pilot line project, he built extensive knowledge on the Battery Passport and realized: many companies are uncertain, even though the requirements are less complex than the EU Battery Regulation might suggest. At the same time, there was no truly effective solution that went beyond simply storing data.
For small and medium-sized enterprises in particular, the challenge lies in efficiently creating passports and collecting data. This was the starting point for Battery Pass Go: a platform that consolidates and shares knowledge. Since battery packs are made from standardized cells, repeatedly collecting the same data is inefficient. It is far better to record this data once, correctly, and make it available to all companies. On this basis, SMEs can easily and quickly create the Battery Passport for their individual product.
Battery Pass Go is built on a strong network of competent partners and specialized service providers. Projects can thus be implemented flexibly and with precisely the expertise required. A key element is our collaboration with open-dpp GmbH, which today is one of our central partners.
